Authentic Chicken Jalfrezi Recipe

To make authentic Chicken Jalfrezi, you will need the following ingredients:- 500g boneless chicken
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2-3 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 large tomato, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 2-3 green chillies, sliced
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions
Now that you have all the ingredients, follow these simple steps to make authentic Chicken Jalfrezi:- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.
- Once the seeds start to splutter, add chopped onions and garlic, and sauté until they turn translucent.
- Add ginger paste and sauté for another 2-3 minutes.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.
- Add all the spices – coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and garam masala – and mix well.
- Now add the chopped bell peppers and sliced green chillies and mix well.
- Add the boneless chicken and mix well, making sure it is coated well with the spices.
- Cover the pan and cook for 15-20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
- Once the chicken is cooked, remove the lid and cook on high heat for another 5-7 minutes until the gravy thickens.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or naan bread.
