- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup hot water
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch square baking pan. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. Set aside. 3. In a large bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. 4. Add molasses and egg, beat until well combined. 5. Gradually stir in the hot water. 6. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. 7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula. 8. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. 9. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.Nutrition
