For the sponge cake:- 6 eggs

Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch (23cm) cake pans. Step 2: In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Step 3: Sift the flour and baking powder into the egg mixture and fold gently until well combined. Step 4: Add the vanilla extract and mix well. Step 5: Divide the batter evenly between the three prepared cake pans. Step 6: Bake the cakes for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Step 7: Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
