Chocolate Flapjacks Recipe

To make a batch of chocolate flapjacks, you will need the following ingredients:- 200g unsalted butter
- 200g golden syrup
- 200g light brown sugar
- 400g rolled oats
- 100g dark chocolate chips
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Note:
- Make sure to use unsalted butter to avoid adding too much salt to the recipe.
- Light brown sugar is recommended for this recipe, as it will give the flapjacks a lovely caramel flavour.
- Use rolled oats rather than instant oats, as they will hold their shape better when baked.
- You can use any type of chocolate chips you like – milk, dark or white chocolate would all work well.
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan)/350°F/gas mark 4. Grease and line a 20cm x 30cm baking tin with baking paper. 2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter, golden syrup and brown sugar over a low heat. Stir gently until the sugar has dissolved. 3. Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. 4. Add the rolled oats and chocolate chips to the pan and stir well, making sure all the ingredients are evenly distributed. 5. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking tin and use the back of a spoon to press it down firmly. 6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the flapjacks are golden brown and firm to the touch. 7. Remove the tin from the oven and allow the flapjacks to cool in the tin for 10-15 minutes. 8. Once the flapjacks have cooled slightly, use a sharp knife to cut them into squares or rectangles. 9. Leave the flapjacks to cool completely in the tin before removing them and serving.Nutrition
